Study Visit at Axfood
Axel Johnson Retail Club had a study visit to Axfood; Sweden’s leading grocery retailer actor which consists of companies such as Willys, Hemköp, Dagab, Tempo, Urban Deli, and mat.se.
Åsa Domeij, Head of Sustainability at Axfood held an inspiring presentation on Axfood’s key strategic sustainable goals, Axfood’s policies and rigorous Code of Conduct in their purchasing & production, and Axfood’s role in driving political sustainability advocacy works.
Desiré Cichy, Sustainability Manager at Hemköp spoke further of current sustainability trends Hemköp is addressing as well as their future strategy in increasing healthy, sustainable product consumption in-store and online. Students were tasked to present 1-3 different ideas Hemköp can implement to promote dietary shift towards sustainable consumption.
Some of the ideas our Retail Management students presented consisted of in-store physical product placements such as placing more vegan alternatives juxtaposed to meat products, effective communication of carbon footprints, and different ways to increase sustainable choices online.
