Company visit at swedish match
Swedish Match’s Retail club had a visit at the Swedish Match factory in Gothenburg and a workshop about Sustainable Edition.
This Wednesday, the students in the Swedish Match Retail Club had a bright and early morning train taking them to Gothenburg and the Swedish Match factory. When arriving, the students were welcomed by Rana Mizouri, Visit Coordinator and Customer Service Agent who held an introduction to the supply chain and manufacturing. After the presentation, it was time for a tour in the factory, also led by Rana. She showed and explained the function of the various machines, departments and processes in the production of snus and guided the students through the whole factory.
After a lunch break, it was time for the workshop, which went under the theme Sustainable Edition. Martin Olsson, Head of Leaf Tobacco Department gave a brief introduction on Swedish Match's sustainability work, as well as on the production and cultivation of tobacco and the related challenges. The students were then tasked to come up with a sustainable snus product “Sustainable Edition”, which should include both optimal climate product features, ethical aspects related to tobacco and transparency and a communication strategy to communicate the product / sustainability story towards the consumers.
All groups came up with different solutions and had different takes on the questions. Some of the suggested solutions were the launch of a special edition product, where part of the sales would be donated to organizations helping clean the oceans, cans made of bioplastic and how the supply chain could work with sustainability and communicate it.
