More than two decades of study of civil society and its organization. With a keen interest and active research in governance matters relevant both for organizations and for society, as well as of organization and strategy, I have received numerous external grants and research contracts. The results are published primarily in English and Swedish; and most of the publications are made easily available on either academia.edu or researchgate.net (links to the right).
With fellow scholars I have established and today run the Stockholm Center on Civil Society Studies at SSE Institute for Research (SIR) and with my Center colleagues I regularly participate in international conferences. We also work with civil society scholars from a wide range of other countries and disciplines. With a group of European colleagues, I serve as editor for a book series with the German publisher Nomos and on the editorial boards of Journal for Civil Society, Voluntary Sector Review and Non-profit Policy Forum. I have taught at the School of Management at the University of Technology, Sydney, the School of Management at Trinity College, Dublin, and Wirtschaftsuniversität, Wien. I have served as Professor at Ersta Sköndal University College (Stockholm) and as Visiting Professor at the School of Business at Stockholm University.
I have been fortunate to work with a number of talented doctoral students over the years, leading up to the successful completion of their PhDs. Teaching experience ranges from courses in general management and organization theory, to more specialized teaching in change management or civil society governance. I teach both at undergraduate and master level, nstruct PhD students and also have a long-standing record of participating in various forms of executive training, in Sweden and elsewhere.
