Chimenti, Gianluca

Affiliated Researcher
SSE Institute for Research (SIR)

What are digital platforms and how do they transform the ways in which people access mobility, food, care, and other services necessary for daily life? Gianluca Chimenti’s research currently focuses on the dynamic effects of the so called 'platform economy'.

After receiving his PhD from the Stockholm School of Economics, his thesis (2021) entitled "Performing ambiguity?" was awarded several prizes, one of which is the prestigious Wallander Scholarship. His research has been published in world leading journals, including Organization Studies, Environment and Planning, and Consumption Markets & Culture.

As a German native, Gianluca believes in the Humboldtian model of higher education (Humboldtsches Bildungsideal) that follows a credo of combining research, practice and teaching.

In his free time, you can probably find him either trail running or bike packing through mud and mountain. On a good day, he speaks six languages.
