Author talks and literary lectures
During the Fall of 2018 and the Spring of 2019, the SSE Literary Agenda invites a number of authors and literary scholars to the school.
November 5, 2018, 16.00-17.00. The author Theodor Kallifatides visits the school to talk about his book Another Life.
February 14, 2019, 16.00-17.00. The author Johannes Anyuru is interviewed by Alan Shima on his book A Storm Blew in from Paradise.
March 25, 16.00-17.00. Maria Schottenius will talk about Kerstin Ekman’s book Blackwater. Maria Schottenius, PhD, wrote her dissertation on Kerstin Ekman’s authorship and has become a close friend to the author.
March 26, 18.00-19.15. Jennifer Clement, who is the President of PEN International and an internationally acclaimed fiction author translated to more than 30 languages, will have a conversation with Jesper Bengtsson, Chairman of Swedish PEN. This event is open to the public and is free of charge. It is the first co-produced literary lecture with International Författarscen.
April 25, 16.00-17.00. Susanna Romanus and Yukiko Duke will have a literary talk together with Lovisa Fhager Havdelin, General Secretary of Teskedsorden. Teskedsorden is a not for profit organization that promotes human rights and democracy, and the literary talk will discuss issues of how gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation is represented in literature. May 17, 16.00-17.00. Pamela Schultz Nybacka, PhD, is Head of the Cultural Management Program at Södertörn University and Head of the Publishing Studies Program at Stockholm University. She will give a lecture on the organization of the Swedish literary field and the relationships between the author, the publisher, the publishing house and the reader. May 28, 19.00-20.00. Mircea Cărtărescu, acclaimed Romanian author and poet will talk about his literature together with the Swedish author, translator and professor in aesthetics Aris Fioretos. This author’s talk on postmodernism in literature is arranged in collaboration with Internationell Författarscen and open to the public. Tickets are sold through Internationell Författarscen.
All author talks and literary lectures are in English and take place in the Aula of the school.
