Art talk: Fathia Mohidin and Martin Carlsson-Wall

During late March and early April we are screening Fathia Mohidin´s videowork KIN on the big screen in the atrium. KIN investigates muscles as memory and the kinship with forefathers. Welcome to an art talk with Fathia Mohidin and SSE researcher Martin Carlsson-Wall from Center for Sports and Business, April 6, 12-13 in the Jacob Dahlgren room.

In her art Fathia Mohidin examines the gym as a specific place along with its aesthetics, architecture and politics. She is also interested in the demands for productivity and performance placed on us by capitalist society, and her work draws our attention to similarities between a gym and the workplace.

In 2017, the artist began exercising regularly in order to investigate new ways of thinking and working with the body. It evolved into a form of physical research that has become the foundation of her artistic practice.

Fathia Mohidin was the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation scholarship recipient of 2020.

Martin Carlsson Wall an SSE researcher and the director of The Center for Sports and Business at SSE.

Open for all. A wrap will be served.
