Mentoring Skills Development Session: Creating trust and engagement in virtual communication

Due to COVID-19 and the expansive use of digital technologies, virtual communication is having an increasing impact on the way we build and maintain professional relationships, including those between mentors and students. Please join us for our first Mentoring Skills Development Session about how to create trust and engagement in a new remote format.

Globalization and revolutionary technologies have long before the pandemic created a new virtual landscape which brings us both opportunities and fresh challenges in communicating digitally, across geographies, time zones and cultures. In the current context of COVID-19, virtual meetings have become an integral part of the new normal for mentoring relationships. However, a virtual mentoring relationship is more than just Zoom-meetings. How can we adapt our communication approach and mentoring relationships to the virtual revolution?

During the session, Researcher Dr Lena lid Falkman will share insights from her research on how the digital revolution affects the way we work, and guide us in exploring how to form meaningful connections during a time of social distancing, and how to make virtual meetings and virtual mentorship at a distance work.

Kindly note that this is an exclusive event, open only to the participating mentors of the SSE MSc Mentorship Program 2020.
