SSE Art Initiative
Building knowledge through art and the humanities
The SSE Art Initiative was established in 2015 to generate a more holistic view of the surrounding world for our community. The program explores and develops transboundary knowledge exchange, production, and transfers through art and the humanities, by curating art exhibitions and symposiums directed towards researchers, students, and the public.

The SSE Art Initiative relies solely on contributions from foundations, companies and individuals. Thanks to a generous donation by SSE alumna, Helena Saxon last year, the sculpture, Banca Rotta (Switzerland, 17th Century, oak) by artist duo Goldin + Senneby, was added to the SSE Art Initiative's permanent collection. Pieces such as this strengthen the bridge between art and business. This antique moneychanger's table, sawed in half, is an economic memento mori of the dark side of business: failure and bankruptcy. Banca Rotta reminds us of a dimension that tends to be forgotten and even repressed in an educational milieu focusing on success and progress.
