The Economist Historical Archive
Did you know that SSE students and staff have access to digitized versions of every single issue of The Economist from 1843 to 2014? That makes it a unique historical source covering the great events of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
The Economist Historical Archive contains full-color images, multiple search indexes and the ability to browse each and every issue from 1843 to 2014.
With a selection of fully searchable and downloadable tables, it also allows users to export data for their research projects. The post-1983 Key Indicators tables are downloadable for spreadsheet applications.
The Financial Times Historical Archive
SSE library also provides access to The Financial Times Historical Archive, which delivers a complete searchable series of articles from 1882 to 2010. Every item ever printed in the paper during this time period can be searched and browsed.
Both archives can be searched by type of content. Choose from advertising, markets, editorials, opinion, news, people, business news, arts or sports.
Both students and professionals can use these resources to study industries and companies, and track competitor trends and strategies over the years. Furthermore, the archives provide a fascinating view of changes in advertising and how businesses have presented themselves over time.
