1. Why did you choose SSE and your specific program?

I chose SSE because of its good reputation in Scandinavia and Europe, and also because Stockholm is a lovely, relaxed and beautiful city. I chose the MIB program because I always wanted to study International Business in a truly international, diverse environment. After talking with Ciara, the MIB program director, during the interview, I was convinced that MIB at SSE is the ideal program for my graduate study.

2. Why would you encourage others to apply to SSE?

SSE is a small and lovely business school with a diverse and vibrant group of students and caring faculty. Every student is encouraged and respected at SSE.

"Look for housing early and try to pick up some basic Swedish before you come. Swedes speak perfect English but it will be extremely helpful in your daily life here. I was pleasantly surprised to arrive here and see such a different lifestyle from my home country: people are chilled, friendly and highly value a work-life balance. So, work hard and play hard, and you will have two great years ahead of you."

Duc Anh Bui, from Viet Nam
Current MSc student in Business & Management | Email me: 41394@student.hhs.se

1. Why did you choose SSE and your specific program?

At first, I was attracted to SSE simply by the school’s reputation across Scandinavia and Europe. But after talking to another current SSE MBM student, I realized it would also be a great fit for me. Factors such as the great professors, the close-knit & international student community, the great connections with the top companies in Sweden, and other great components of the Master programs such as the XTM module and mentorship program encouraged me to apply. I chose the MBM program as I wanted to solve business problems holistically from a general manager’s perspective, and I think the MBM program is perfectly designed to suit that need. I prefer a practical rather than theoretical approach to studies, and I think SSE does that very well with the way all the programs are structured.

2. Why would you encourage others to apply to SSE?

Although being a top-notch school, I think that SSE don’t get the exposure it deserves in my native region across Asia. I encourage prospective students to learn more about SSE, but also about Stockholm and Sweden. We, the ambassadors, would be happy to answer any of your questions. It is one of Europe’s best business schools located in the heart of one of the world’s most livable and beautiful cities. After talking to some SSE students and watching videos of Stockholm and Sweden, it became my priority to apply here, and I am glad that it became true. It is only the early days in my SSE journey but I already received great assistance from the school and the students regarding coming to Sweden and participating in lots of orientation activities. I think it will be two years filled with both new knowledge and a lot of fun.

3. What tips do you have for prospective students?

Congratulations to all who make it to SSE! I remember the glorious moment when I realized that I received the acceptance letter –  it was one of the best memories in my life. Look for housing early and try to pick up some basic Swedish before you come. Swedes speak perfect English but it will be extremely helpful in your daily life here. I was pleasantly surprised to arrive here and see such a different lifestyle from my home country: people are chilled, friendly and highly value a work-life balance. So, work hard and play hard, and you will have two great years ahead of you.

Kaiou Yang, from China

1. Why did you choose SSE and your specific program?

I always wanted a small school with an active interaction between the faculty and students. SSE is the most suitable one among all the international prestigious schools for me. Additionally, the MIB program has an attractive curriculum with hands-on projects that improve my understanding of international business in the real world. The two amazing immersion trips and the CEMS double degree are the highlight of the program.

2. Why would you encourage others to apply to SSE?

For those who want to pursue an international career, I would strongly recommend the MIB program at SSE. People at SSE are nice and supportive, the resources in SSE are no less than at any other schools and everyone has access to the top platform SSE provides. Also, Stockholm is a city where you can have a great work-life balance. Students at SSE are generally satisfied with the teaching methods and career services. "Raised under the Chinese teaching system for so many years, I now want to step out of the comfort zone and experience a different kind of educational system, new cultures and language environment. Stockholm School of Economics, which is reputed for its academic inclusiveness and freedom, naturally becomes my ideal place to study."

Fangjie Cai, from China
Current MSc student in Economics | Email me: 41439@student.hhs.se

1. Why did you choose SSE and your specific program?

Raised under the Chinese teaching system for so many years, now I want to step out of the comfort zone and experience a different kind of educational system, new cultures and language environment. Stockholm School of Economics, which is reputed for its academic inclusiveness and freedom, naturally becomes my ideal place to study. Economics is such a fascinating study field because it not only explains a range of phenomena in our life but also enables me to view things from a different perspective. Therefore, it is natural that I want to keep exploring this fascinating field in the future.

2. Why would you encourage others to apply to SSE?

SSE is one of the best business schools in Europe, but not so many Chinese students know SSE. I really want to help SSE enlarge its influence as an excellent business school in China, improve its popularity outside Sweden or Europe and let more Chinese students and companies know this first-class business school.

3. What tips do you have for prospective students?

Practice your English (improve spoken and written English) and do what you really want to do.
