Why did you choose SSE?
I was born and raised in Miami with a Swedish dad and a Cuban-American mom. Growing up, I always wanted to connect with my Swedish roots. After my receiving my undergraduate degrees in Physics and Finance, I was looking for a program that could leverage my skills and lead me towards a better business understanding and entrepreneurship. I applied to several schools in Sweden, but from what I heard from family and friends if I got accepted to SSE it would be an opportunity I should not turn down. What I was told repeatedly was that I would get an incredible education and connections to amazing people; faculty, fellow students as well as very distinguished alumni. They were certainly right.
What is your favorite part about being at SSE?
It is hard to name just one favorite part about being at SSE. People are driven, but are also happy to help each other and work together. The projects are stimulating and very real. There are constantly real life applications to what we learn. The atmosphere of the school is warm and welcoming. The city is beautiful. Walking down any street, you see amazing architecture and the buildings have so many great colors. I still find myself amazed by the city and cannot believe this is where I currently live.
Why would you encourage others to apply to SSE?
Studying abroad or doing an exchange program gives you one experience, but moving to a new country more permanently is completely different. After just a couple months in Stockholm, I have learned and grown so much. I have gotten to know people from countries around the world, each with a different perspective on life and the world, but all aiming to be business leaders. For those desiring to be an entrepreneur, this school provides a great atmosphere and excitement as well as many resources to realize your dreams. The city also nurtures innovation. Stockholm has an entrepreneurial culture.
