Why did you apply for the position as Project Leader for SSE’s BSc Ambassador’s Program?
Even before joining, I already believed that the ambassador program was extremely important, as I fondly remembered how much the SSE Ambassadors meant to me and helped me in making my own decision to study at SSE when I was a high school student. I had met the ambassadors at the “SSE Open House” (öppet hus) and at an inspirational night for girls when I was younger and the ambassadors made a great impression on me. They opened my eyes to the world of business and economics and it encouraged me to apply to SSE. Because of these impressions, I immediately applied to become an ambassador in the program when I started my first year at SSE. I really appreciated taking part in the workshops included in the program, meeting curious high school students and getting to know more people, both inside and outside SSE. Fanny, on the other hand, had never heard about the Ambassadors Program, but saw the ad on the portal and applied to become an ambassador in her first year.
After finishing the program at the end of our first year, neither of us felt quite done working with it and we both thought that the next step would be to apply for the project leader role. We strongly believe it is important that SSE finds competent, ambitious and intelligent people who improve its academic environment and strengthen the SSE brand. I had several ideas on how the program could be improved and expanded to reach even more prospective SSE students, which is why I was eager to take on the role as the project leader. Fanny loved being a part of the program her 1st year at the RM and agreed that the program needed to expand as well. She also saw how this role was a great opportunity to practice her leadership skills.
What did you enjoy the most about your job?
The very best moments were when Fanny and I had been working very hard for a particular event or school visit and the school contacted us afterwards to express how grateful they were that we arranged the visit/event. These were the absolute best moments for me because I could clearly feel that our efforts made a difference.
How did this position help prepare you for your future career?
Managing this project has honed my people management skills and helped me learn how to motivate my team to achieve our objectives. Managing a group of 30 ambassadors and having a very own budget has given me a great opportunity to develop my leadership skills and organisational skills, which are skills that will definitely be an asset to my professional career.
