Fernanda Torre - visiting teacher
Fernanda Torre is a Visiting Teacher affiliated to the House of Innovation - Department of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology, at Stockholm School of Economics.
In terms of research, Fernanda currently coordinates 4Boards.ai, a Vinnova funded project, aiming to identify, codify, and disseminate a set of best practices to enable corporate boards to more successfully govern and leverage AI and other exponential technologies in their innovation and sustainability efforts.
Fernanda Torre embodies the interdisciplinary intersection between design, business and innovation, while exploring synergies between both practice and research. With a background in Graphic Design (Red Dot Design award 2014 with Gabor Palotai) and Experience Design ( Beam me up, Scotty! award in Helsinki design fair 2013), Fernanda has made her way into innovation management (Stora Enso Innovation Award for Intelligent Packaging 2016). Nowadays Fernanda works as a consultant, collaborating with Above’s Business Innovation team, and is a member of the international working group for the establishment of a ISO Standard for Innovation Management (SIS/TK 532).
Fernanda has experience in the most diverse sectors such as renewable materials & manufacturing (Group Innovation and R&D; and Innovation Center for Biomaterials at Stora Enso) in resilience thinking and sustainable leadership (LEAD program at the Stockholm Resilience Centre), gendered medical innovations (Karolinska Centre for Gender Medicine, Department of Medicine) and entrepreneurship in creative industries (Balticlab, Swedish Institute and CBSS).
Fernanda Torre has a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the Stockholm School of Economics, awarded with the President’s List (for outstanding academic achievement) and the SSE Award for Class Contribution (voted by fellow MBAs). Fernanda has also a Master’s in Fine Arts in Experience Design from Konstfack (Vasakronan scholarship nomination and Ulla Fröberg-Cramérs Foundation scholarship) and Bachelor in Arts in Communication Design - Graphic Art Porto University. Fernanda also has a particular interest for Design Fiction and Future Thinking, and has a Trendspotting and Future Thinking course from the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship and the National Institute of Design (NID) in India.
As well as teaching at Stockholm School of Economics, Fernanda is also an Industry Leader in the discipline of Design in Hyper Island (Content Developer program), and a recognized public speaker and thought leader (TEDx Matosinhos, Design Talks Business in Gdynia Design Days). Fernanda is also board member of Innovationsledarna (Association for Innovation Management Professionals in Sweden) and founder of Frames – Portuguese Film Festival in Sweden.
