MBA scholar to strengthen Norwegian-Swedish cooperation

Anders Oppeböen, Senior Profit Manager at Nordic Choice Hotels, has been awarded the SSE MBA NSHK scholarship 2017. It is given to the next generation of leaders to strengthen Norwegian and Swedish industry.

The scholarship is based on cooperation between the Norwegian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (NSHK) and the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) and covers 18 months of executive MBA studies at the Stockholm School of Economics worth SEK 465,000.

"Norway is one of Sweden’s largest trading partner and we hope that this scholarship will contribute to further strengthening our great relationship", says Björn Rosengren, President, Norwegian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce.

Anders is a Norwegian, currently residing in Stockholm, thus bridging between the two countries. He receives the scholarship with the following motivation by the jury:

Anders is a competitive team-player with a long international background from the hotel industry, working today for the NSHK member company Nordic Choice Hotels. Anders works in a specialist role, with experience from a fast-changing industry, which is of growing importance in both Norway and Sweden. He has quickly advanced his career within Nordic Choice Hotels, and was also selected as their representative to participate in NSHK’s Talentnettverk last year.

We believe that the SSE MBA program will give Anders a solid foundation in general management and support him in realizing his full potential in current and future leadership roles. With his unique experience from the hotel industry, he will also greatly contribute to the program and his peers. Not the least he will be a good ambassador for SSE, Nordic Choice Hotels and NSHK.

"We are incredibly proud of Anders and have great expectations of his continued career within Nordic Choice Hotels. The scholarship also proves that we are following the motto of Petter Stordalen; to only employ people that are better than ourselves", says Katalin Paldeak, Chief Operating Officer, Nordic Choice Hotels

"The purpose of the scholarship is to promote Norwegian-Swedish cooperation and raise the level of skills among the next generation of leaders", says Karin Wiström, Director SSE MBA, Stockholm School of Economics.

The scholarship jury has consisted of Björn Rosengren, President NSHK, Jacob Dalborg, CEO, Bonnier Books, Karin Wiström, Director SSE MBA, Stockholm School of Economics, and Berit Salheim, CEO, NSHK.
