Open Seminar at Score: Tommy Jensen

Welcome to an online seminar on Thursday January 20 with Tommy Jensen, Professor in management and organization theory at Stockholm Business School, Stockholm University.

Thursday January 20 at 10.00-11.30

On the seminar I will talk about the now finished project Organizing Rocks as-well as the recently published book Gruvans Makt (Black Island Books).

More generally, the project and the book concern labor processes in the mining industry. Mining is an industry dependent on rocks tied to a particular place, but that yet are becoming less place-bound as temporal and spatial conditions are changing. In the Kiruna mine, for example, we know there is an increasing use of contractors (also foreign companies) and that there are miners who live on the coast, even abroad, commuting to work by car, train or plane (working 7/7 or 14/14). This impact not only life inside the gates to the mine, but also life outside the gates (families, communities, municipalities, indigenous people etc.).
