ERIK WETTER APPOINTED TO UN WORLD DATA FORUM ROLE

Erik Wetter at SSE House of Innovation has been appointed to the Program Committee of the United Nations World Data Forum on Sustainable Development Data (UN World Data Forum) which will be held in Switzerland in 2020.

The UN World Data Forum is convened under the auspices of the United Nations Statistical Commission and with the guidance of the High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for Statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (HLG-PCCB).

The Programme Committee will provide substantive advice on the programme of the Forum, including review inputs and proposals on the topics to be covered under each thematic area, provide comments on the composition, content and format of the panels, and make recommendations on keynote speakers.

The last forum held in Dubai in 2018 brought together close to 2,000 data users and producers from public and private sectors, policy makers, academia and civil society to explore harnessing the power of data for sustainable development and produced important outcomes, including the launch of the Dubai Declaration: Supporting the Implementation of the Cape Town Global Action Plan for Sustainable Development Data.
