Jonas Vlachos, Professor of Economics at the Stockholm University, received his PhD in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics in 2002. Since then he has worked at the Research Institute of Industrial Economics (IFN), Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) at the Stockholm School of Economics, and have spent a year as a visiting researcher at the Booth School at the University of Chicago.
Apart from teaching and doing research, he has served as a scientific advisor in various contexts and have an interest in popularizing economics, most clearly manifested in the blog Ekonomistas.se that has been running since 2008. Since 2014, Professor Vlachos is on the board of Nationalekonomiska föreningen (the Swedish Economic Association).
His research interests cover international economics, financial markets, political economy, corporate governance, labour economics, and the economics of education. Currently, his main research focus is on worker-firm sorting, assortative matching in the marriage market, school choice, and grading practices.
