Michela Maria Tincani is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, University College London and a Research Fellow at the Institute for Fiscal Studies. She is a labor economist with an interest in social inequalities and her papers combine administrative microdata, and, more recently, data from a natural experiment, with insights from applied microeconomic theory (dynamic decision-making, general equilibrium, and game theoretic models of social interactions).
Her research so far has focused on the economics of education systems since she considers education as one of the most important determinants of lifetime opportunities. Her ongoing work explores inequalities on the labor market, with a focus on the role of non-cognitive skills in determining the gender gap in lifetime earnings. Her general fields of study include labor, education, development, and applied microeconometrics.
