About Global Health Night and SIGHT Award 2020

Global Health Night

Global Health Night is a dynamic and interactive event, dedicated to the UN Sustainable Development Goals to transform the world by 2030. The event brings together students, researchers and global health professionals who all share a passion for improving health and achieving health equity for people worldwide. It is an event formally established in 2015 and organised annually by a group of students heavily involved in youth led-organisations such as: Mother and Child Health Association (MACHA), Swedish Organisation for Global Health(SOGH), International Federation of Medical Students Association(IFMSA Sweden) and Swedish Institute for Global Health Transformation(SIGHT) by the help of The Center for Global Health at Karolinska Institute(CGH).

Global Health Night has during its active years had the honour of hosting many inspiring speakers such as Hans Rosling, Anders Nordstöm, Anna Mia Ekström and Johan von Schreeb. As of 2020, Global Health Night will be having its 6th annual event outside of Karolinska Institute for the first time, at Stockholm School of Economics. This will entail a new interdisciplinary collaboration committed to inform and inspire students, academics and the public on the topic of global health.

SIGHT Award 2020

SIGHT was established in January 2017, at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. SIGHT’s purpose is to promote an interdisciplinary approach, to strengthen and bridge Swedish research and education, and to provide a scientific basis for national and transnational collaborative policy work, in the field of global health. SIGHT is an institute under the auspices of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

SIGHT Award 2020 will be awarded on November 25 during the student event Global Health Night. The decision on awardee for the SIGHT Award 2020 is taken by the board of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. In previous years, some of the most outstanding researchers working within Global Health in Swedish universities have received the award: Andreas Mårtensson, Johanna Lindhal and Claudia Hanson. Join us this year in honouring another great Global Health changemaker!
