Associate Professor Steen Vallentin, Copenhagen Business School, will present the notion of Strategic CSR in the broader academic landscape of CSR theorising. He will more specifically present the notion of Shared Value as coined by Professor Michael Porter and Mark Kramer, and critically engage with potential and challenges of this concept including its corporate-centric perspective and disregard of ethical concerns in a societal context.
Steen Vallentin has engaged in research on CSR and governance over the past 15 years and his research has been published in for example Business and Society, Journal of Business Ethics, Organization and with Cambridge University Press.
Readings for seminar:
Participants are encouraged to read the Vallentin and Spence chapter (see yellow box) and to remind themselves about the seminal paper from Michael Porter and Mark Kramer, published in Harvard Business Review about "Shared Value".
