Today’s quarterly calls are one of the primary reinforcing mechanisms for the short-term focus viewed by many as hostile to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The capital market conversation between companies and investors needs to shift from a focus on financial performance alone to materiality or what might be called “integrated quarterly conference calls”.
In collaboration with Professor Robert Eccles, Misum through its program Mistra Financial Systems, will embark upon a new research project with the aim to change the “capital market conversation” by helping it to be more inclusive of material environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues.
The Action Lab on Quarterly Conference Calls is a practical research project that involves organizing real earnings calls, inclusive of ESG issues, between large Swedish companies and their major shareholders.
Welcome to a discussion with Prof. Roberts Eccles to learn more about the Action Lab, including the Swedish project. You will also meet the Swedish team leader, Hanna Setterberg, Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting at the Stockholm School of Economics.
