"Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability: Lessons from Multinational Firms and their local Subsidiaries" by Professor Lin Lerpold, Executive Director, Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets (MISUM), Stockholm School of Economics
2016-11-29 at 18:30
Sustainable development is our time’s greatest global challenge, not least of all for multinational firms, who must find a way of maintaining competitive advantage in an increasingly global and resource-constrained world. Recognizing that growth built on continuous consumption and “business as usual” is no longer a possibility, many firms are taking proactive steps to rethink their business strategies. In this seminar, Professor Lin Lerpold will draw on academic research and professional experience to highlight how Swedish multinationals are addressing the challenges towards a more sustainable development within the business context.
Lin Lerpold is an Acting Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics and the Executive Director of the newly formed Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets (MISUM). Lin’s research has included multinational strategic alliances, microfinance for poverty alleviation, and human rights in global supply chains. Dr. Lerpold teaches in graduate degree programs and executive education at different universities and is a popular speaker in various multistakeholder events and in national media channels. Before her academic career, Lin worked 10 years in the international oil industry and she has also been a visiting scholar at both London School of Economics and at INSEAD in France.
