"Outlook for Japan's Economy and Economic Policy" by Professor Yukio Noguchi, Advisor, Institute of Finanacial Studies, Waseda University and Honorary Professor, Hitotsubashi University
Japan’s economic growth has decreased by 0.4% in the second quarter of the year compared with the first three month of the year, shrank at annualized pace of 1.6% in the quarter. Abenomics has been aiming at getting Japan’s economy out of deflation and back to growth however, the three arrows of abenomics seem not remedy the current economic situation.
In the presentation, we would like to hear Professor Noguchi’s thoughts against Abenomics. He will talk about the outlook for Japan’s economy, economic policy and what must be done to achieve stable growth in Japan’s economy.
About the speaker: After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Tokyo in 1963, Yukio joined the Ministry of Finance in 1964 and received a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University in 1972. After serving as Professor at Hitotsubashi University, the University of Tokyo, Visiting Professor at Stanford University and Professor at the Waseda Graduate School of Finance, he became Advisor to Institute of Financial Studies, Waseda University in April 2011. His research focuses on financial theory and the Japanese economy. Yukio was born in Tokyo in 1940. He has many publications on Japan's economy and besides this, series of “Cho-seiri-ho (Super effective way to organize information,)” "Cho-seiri-techo (Super effective schedule organizer,) " are one of best-selling books and stationeries since 1993.
