"China and Japan - Bilateral Relations and the Role of State Identity" by Dr. Shogo Suzuki, The University of Manchester
The geopolitical tensions between China and Japan will most probably remain in the headlines in 2014. What are the implications of Japan's recent decision to increase its military spending and China's "assertive turn"? Also how does Chinese identity formation and the call for China to become a great power by Western standards, affect the bilateral relationship?
Shogo Suzuki is lecturer in Chinese Politics at the University of Manchester. His research focuses on International Relations with reference to East Asia, Chinese and Japanese foreign policy and Sino-Japanese relations.
