We are glad to present an art talk with two of Sweden’s most interesting younger artist - Katja Larsson and Johan Bergström Hyldahl. They are two artists with very different approaches to the world, but with a common interest of humanity’s larger questions – destruction, the natural elements and idea of the artificial. They are also artists featured in the collection of SSE Art Initiative, and therefore have a connection to the school, both its architecture and wider context. In this Art Talk, they will be speaking to Robert Stasinski of SSE Art Initiative about art and its relation to technology, economics, nature and the Anthropocene.
The Art of Johan Bergström Hyldahl’s contains a wide array of topics and ideas, from melancholic humor, to the divine and the end of the world. He has worked both with digital imagery, film and painting, often with non-linear but strangely familiar narratives. He is also an alumn of the Stockholm School of Economics, as well as the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm and is represented by Cecilia Hillström Gallery.
Katja Larsson works with installation, photography and sculpture and creates collections of artefacts from worlds which has abandoned its humans or creates a hybrid of the living and dead matter. He projects are created as field studies where geological formations are rendered and measured to form the basis of new objects and forms. She is a graduate from the The Slade School of Fine Art and is represented by Cecilia Hillström Gallery.
