Digital transformation is part of the strategic agenda for most companies. But it meets both internal and external obstacles and challenges organizations need to understand in order to make better decisions. We believe that we can learn from others in order to become more successful and would therefore like to invite you as SSE MBA Alumni to experience a light interactive workshop, where we will process newly developed business cases together with researchers, peers and the case company Universal Music.
This case illustrates the complexity of reacting to industry wide business model innovation from an operative perspective. The case aims at developing data thinking and the ability to challenge the status quo. The full case introduces the status quo of three practices (marketing tactics, artist brand positioning, and product design) that were relevant for Universal’s marketing. Considering that the industry business model had recently changed from physical revenues to streaming, Universal’s digital transformation manager is in the position to decide at which points in Universal’s marketing practices and business model big data management would have the largest impact and to determine the label’s role in the future of the music industry.
Professor Per Andersson and Dr Christopher Rosenqvist will lead the workshop.
The case is developed for executive education and partly published in the newly released book “Managing Digital Transformation”, which also will be presented.
Coffee and sandwich at 5.00 p.m.
The workshop will start at 5.30 p.m. and finish at approximately 7.00 p.m.
After the workshop refreshments will be served.
