Communication and Disagreement with Unobserved Biases

This mini-course will examine communication when individuals have heterogeneous and unobserved prior beliefs about the world. We consider conditions under which distributed information will be fully aggregated, the role of correlation in prior beliefs, the degree of public disagreement, and the structure of communication networks that can arise.

Professor Sethi's research and teaching is focused primarily on finance, inequality, crime, and communication. In recent work, he has examined segregation in neighborhoods and social networks, stereotyping in economic interactions, disparities across groups in crime victimization and incarceration, and the transmission across generations of group inequality.
