Welcome to Stockholm and the Stockholm School of Economics!
We are proud to host the CEMS Annual Events 2016 in Stockholm, the cultural, media, political, and financial center of Sweden. For more than 100 years, the mission of the Stockholm School of Economics has been to strengthen Sweden’s competitiveness through scientific teaching and research. Our school was founded by the Swedish business community and our ties remains strong as we wish to be recognized as a global benchmark for industry collaboration.
Swedes are early adopters of new technology and our non-hierarchical society creates a fertile environment for new ideas. Sweden has been called the most digitally connected economy, Stockholm is ranked the second largest fintech hub in Europe, and our school hosts one of the most successful business incubators in Europe. By any measure, Sweden is one of the world’s most innovative nations.
The LSE report Stockholm - Green Economy Leader, produced in partnership with the City of Stockholm, shows that Stockholm took early action to build a green economy. For Stockholm, unlike most cities, environmental policies have been important for over 40 years.
One of our school’s latest endeavors is Misum, the Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets, a cross-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder research center. Another recent and important initiative is Global Challenges, an addition to the bachelor-program curriculum designed to further student awareness of this increasingly globalized social development and to increase the potential of our students to act as responsible decision makers and stewards of tomorrow.
In the spirit of innovation and sustainability it is my pleasure to welcome you to our beautiful city. We look forward to seeing you here for inspiring, engaging and fruitful CEMS Annual Events 2016!
