Wijkström, Filip

I am working as Associate Professor (docent) at the Department of Management at SSE, and I am also active as faculty of the SSE Center for Security and and Resilience.

With more than three decades of civil society study and together with a group of committed fellow scholars I have established and today run the Stockholm Center on Civil Society Studies at SSE, which also have a publishing arm: European Civil Society Press. We conduct research on civil society –  nonprofits, voluntary associations or social movement organizations – which we also publish, and we regularly participate in international conferences to present and discuss our research.

On a regular basis, I serve on the editorial board of a number of journals (e.g., Journal for Civil Society, Voluntary Sector Review, Non-profit Policy Forum) and we have also for many years had a Standing Working Group (SWG) at EGOS, where the organization of civil society topics were discussed.

My teaching experience ranges from courses in general management and organization theory, to more specialized teaching in change management or civil society governance. I have taught at both undergraduate and master level, and I am currently supervising and examining our Bachelor and Master student theses. I instruct PhD students, where I have had the privilege of working with a handful of talented your scholars, and I also have a long-standing record of participating in various forms of executive training, in Sweden and elsewhere.

Currently, I am the Course Director for a course module in change management at SSE Executive Education tailored for the Swedish Armed Forces. I have previously taught in our MBA Executive Format program at SSE, and a variety of classes at higher-education institutions like the School of Management at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS); the School of Management at Trinity College, Dublin (TCD); and Wirtschaftsuniversität, Vienna (WU). I have also served as Professor at Marie Cederschiöld University (Stockholm) and as Visiting Professor at the School of Business at Stockholm University.

With a keen interest and active research in many different areas of research relevant both for organizations and for society, I have over the years received numerous external grants and research contracts from research councils and governmental agencies as well as private foundations. The findings and results are published primarily in English and Swedish, and much of the work is made available on either academia.edu or researchgate.net.
