Center for Information Management

Information management deals with the relationship between business activities, individuals and information systems within an organisation.

Our objectives are to research in information management, to teach information management in the Masters program at the Stockholm School of Economics and to offer expert knowledge to the Swedish industry. The emphasis is not on information technology per se, but on its role in business organizations in order to seek broad contextual understanding.

In our research we combine three phases: development of theories, hypotheses, and models and frameworks; empirically testing of these in cooperation with business organizations; and transferring knowledge to practitioners, students and scholars.

We have found all three phases to be vital and closely tied to each other. It is important to place information systems in the context of an organization's external environment. Our research work is conducted in close cooperation with organizations and we are continuously testing our theories and ideas in the business world.
