Catering at SSE events

Most events involve serving some kind of food and beverages. Here are some tips on what to keep in mind when ordering catering.

Simple or fine catering suppliers?

What determines the choice of simpler or finer catering is the food and service level.

Simple catering

Simple catering refers to coffee, conference menus, today's lunch and simple mingle food. SSE have relation with a number of suppliers and you can choose freely which of these catering companies you want to use:

  • HHS Café: For coffee, simple sandwiches, fika etc.

Finer catering 

For finer catering, elevated lunch, buffet/s, mingle food, three-course dinner/s, drinks (including alcoholic beverages), coffee with dessert, cake, pralines or fruit.

Tips and considerations when ordering catering

  • Provide the suplier with the follwing info when placing your order:
    • Project number for billing 
    • Date of event:  

    • Time guests will eat: 

    • Approx number of guests: 

    • Delivery address and venue: 

    • Menu: 

    • Porcelain or disposable items: 

    • Drinks: 

    • Service needs/staffing: 

  • When deciding on what food to serve, consider how the guests will eat it; will they be standing or sitting? 
  • For larger meetings and events, the order must be placed at least seven working days in advance.
  • Orders for smaller meetings must be placed no later than three working days in advance. It is possible to order with shorter foresight, but then the options may be limited.  Contact your provider by email or phone directly.
  • Staffing: If the catering supplier is unable to provide you with staff for setting the table, serving etc. Please contact the satffing company Majola on tel. 08-600 35 00 or info@majola.se
  • Special Diet Foods /Dietary Restrictions: Ask the guests if they have any dietary requirements – such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, lactose free, and nut-free. Inform the supplier.
  • Fika: When ordering coffee and tea, make sure additional items such as milk, oat milk and sugar are included. 
  • Alcohol: See our Serving alcohol at SSE-policy here, to ensure that you apply the rules and regulations from the municipality. 
  • Deliveries: The Office Service Center (OSC) can help you receive your delivery, and take it to the room for the event. Inform the OSC when the restaurant plans to deliver and where the delivery should go.
  • Cleaning: Order bins through the catering company, and make sure that the catering provider/s pick up crockery, food left-overs and garbage within your booked time.
    Be aware that the premise/s used must be restored when you leave it.
  • Buffet tables: There are 8 "buffet tables" available at SSE, with the measures 75*120 cm. Please contact marcelo@publicclean.se to help you get them.
  • Rent furniture or porclain: If you need to rent for example furniture, table cloths and porclian for an event, we recommend the suppliers Tavet and Westmans. Some catering suppliers also offer these items. 

Also, think of... 

  • If the guests will be sitting when eating, consider making a table seating. Be aware that some guests will drop out from the event the same day, and the table seating may need to be re-drawn last minute. Avoid stereotypical seating arrangements, such as alternating female and male guests next to each other.
