Per Åman presented at 12th International Workshop in Design Theory, at MINES Paristech
With co-author Hans Andersson, Linköping university, he presented the paper Wicked problems and design as reflection-in-action. The paper addresses design process issues in situations of uncertainty and complexity. The workshop was organized by the Special Interest Group (SIG) DT of the Design Society, with a wide set of international participants including researchers from Stanford, Carnegie-Mellon, Delft, Karlsruhe, Hong Kong Polytechnic and Politecnico di Milan. An observation would be that an emerging theme of contributions in the workshop came to be design under such conditions as unknowns, ambiguity, uncertainty and complexity, while addressed through a diverse set of approaches ranging from the formal, technical and mathematical, over social processes to artistic and aesthetic.
