Firestorm talk: Arvida Byström
Arvida Byström (b. 1991, Stockholm) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work sits at the intersection of internet culture, femininity, and the politics of visibility. By her early teens, she was already publishing stylized self-portraits online, anticipating the communicative power of the selfie long before it became a cultural currency. Since then, her practice has evolved into a sharp and ongoing examination of how image-based platforms shape identity, how algorithms define beauty standards, how female bodies are policed online, and how AI is reshaping the aesthetics of self-expression.
Working across photography, performance, and sculpture, Byström uses a hyper-feminine visual language as a critical tool, asking who gets to be seen, and on whose terms.
Welcome to a conversation between Arvida Byström and Firestorm partner Michael Storåkers on April 27, 12:15–13:00 at Stockholm School of Economics, Sveavägen 65.
Lunch will be served
