PhD Finance
The SSE PhD program in Finance is a North American-style program with around 35 students.
In their first year, students take required courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematics, and statistics/econometrics.
In their second year, students specialize in Finance and choose additional courses from a wide variety of field courses taught by both SSE and Stockholm University faculty as part of a joint undertaking: the
Stockholm Doctoral Course Program in Economics, Econometrics and Finance (SDPE).
Leading researchers from around the world also visit the SSE frequently and teach mini-courses. In the final two to three years of graduate study, each student does dissertation research under the supervision of a SSE faculty member. Journals that graduate students have recently published in include the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Finance and Journal of Financial Intermediation. Recent graduates hold positions as Assistant Professor at NYU Stern, University of Notre Dame, University of Colorado, University of Zurich and Copenhagen Business School.
