The course component for the PhD Program consists of
90 ECTS, of which
30 ECTS are mandatory courses and
60 ECTS specialization courses or electives. Mandatory Courses include:
- Perspectives on Science and Research (7,5 ECTS)
- The Research Process (7,5 ECTS)
- Quality of Statistical Data (Quantitative Methods 1)(7,5 ECTS)
- Qualitative Methods 1 (7,5 ECTS)
The remaining 60 ECTS are acquired in Specialized Courses, which are given at various departments and institutes at SSE, or other universities, and in many different forms. Which courses to take is jointly decided by the doctoral student and his/her Primary Supervisor.
The subject matters and forms of these courses vary from year to year in response to demands from doctoral students as well as to the changes in research interests.
Doctoral students from other universities are welcome to participate if seats are available in a particular course. A tuition fee of SEK10,000:- may be charged per course for guest students; please check with the relevant course director or course administrator regarding fees.
