Admission and Financing
Every year, a small group of around 10 highly qualified applicants are admitted to the doctoral program in Business Administration. For application information, see Application Information.
For success in the program, creativity, ability to provide deep insights and criticism, and a predisposition toward being independently motivated are significant aspects.
There are certain requirements for the SSE PhD Degree. Applicants who have at least a Masters or comparable academic degree will be considered for admission. An additional requirement is that the academic education has to include one and a half years of studies in Business Administration. The program is in English.
Admission is granted by the Admissions Board for SSE PhD in Business Administration. A Primary Supervisor is appointed for each doctoral student at the time of admission. This person plays a key role in guiding students through the program. After around two years, and after the dissertation proposal has been successfully defended, a Assessment Committee of three to four professors (including a Primary Supervisor) takes on the responsibility of supervision.
Interaction with the Primary Supervisor and Committee is instrumental in helping the student to integrate both required and elective coursework that reflect the student’s unique interests, and in helping with the dissertation process.
A limited number of scholarships (salary and/or stipend covering normal living costs) are available through the SSE, but candidates are encouraged to secure financing from an outside source.
