The Institute for Economic and Business History Research

Courses given by EHFF

On the bachelor level, EHFF currently gives the course 748 Financial Systems: Crises and Theories. The main objective of this course is methodological:

1.   To evaluate the current (and possibly coming) global crisis by historical and comparative analysis of financial development.
2. To provide the students with methodological tools for analysing the development of economic thought (macroeconomic, monetary and financial theories).

The course provides the student with different perspectives on economic development. It is currently divided in two parts. In the first part, the driving forces of financial development, growth and crisis are analyzed. The trade-off between financial expansion and risk is analyzed, and the different aspects that development entails. The second part is theoretical. The evolution of economic analysis is studied. The student will learn how the discipline of economic thought has developed over time, and how the economic theorizing of man relates to the historical context. Responsible for the course are dr. Martin Kragh and dr. Anders Ögren.
