Department of Management and Organization

The Department of Management and Organization (DMO) is built upon a foundation of broad-based knowledge and diverse competence.
The work addresses the conditions that govern and the possibilities open to enterprises and their leaders during various phases of development, in various sectors (private, public and voluntary) and in various industries as well as in the interplay among these conditions and possibilities.

The department's research and teaching is particularly directed toward increasing and dispersing knowledge that both concerns the direction, organization and management of change and development process and is of relevance to enterprises, particularly Swedish companies and public authorities.

The teaching and research are multidisciplinary in character, drawing upon, but not limited to, management theory, organizational theory, sociology, psychology, gender theory and the humanities.

The research, often interpretative in its approach, addresses questions of relevance to leaders concerning the use and development of resources within organizations and outside of them. Research of this kind relies upon close cooperation with the Swedish business community and public sector.
