Four years of stimulating studies — a lifetime of exciting work
A PhD in Finance is highly regarded by both the business community and the academic world. It is designed to provide you with the tools to investigate the most challenging research questions.
The PhD program starts with one year of courses in Mathematics, Econometrics, Micro- and Macroeconomics offered as part of the Stockholm Doctoral Program in Economics (SDPE). In the second year, the finance students take the courses covering asset pricing, corporate finance, empirical finance and derivatives. All Finance PhD courses are compulsory for the second year PhD candidates in Finance. The PhD candidates are also expected to take one or several specialized courses of their choice.
To help you find a dissertation subject many courses include term papers. Our seminar series, of high international standard, provides you with interesting ideas. Presenting and discussing research at conferences is also considered an integral part of writing a dissertation.
Financial support is provided, subject to satisfactory performance, and no tuition is charged.
