Torbjörn Einarsson is, since 2006, a PhD Student in Business Administration at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE). After studying education at Stockholm’s University he completed a M.Sc. in Computer Science and a M.Sc. in Business Administration at Lund University. In 2004 he started working in the Non-Profit Sector Program the Centre for Management and Organization at SSE as a research assistant. Focus of his research is governance – ownership and control – in organizations within the sphere of Civil Society but comparisons with other types of organizations is also highly interesting.
Among current projects is a large quantitative study mapping the conceptions and constructions of membership within eight large federative membership-based organizations and a qualitative study of membership and governance in the Swedish sports movement. Torbjörn is also technically responsible for a web site (http://www.civilsociety.se/) which is sponsored by the European Commission through the CINEFOGO Network of Excellence in the Sixth Framework Programme. The purpose of this web site is primarily to help PhD and graduate students working in the field of Civil Society by collecting useful material of different kinds.
