Sophie Nachemson-Ekwall
Sophie Nachemson-Ekwall was born 1964 in Gothenburg. She gained her DHS-diploma from Stockholm School of Economics in 1986 with a major in finance. After that she has spent 20 years in financial journalism. She has worked for different financial papers based in Stockholm - the weekly Affärsvärlden, the dailies Finanstidningen, Dagens Nyheter and Dagens Industri, as well as the pioneer website E24. In 1999 she acquired the CEFA-degree (Certified European Financial Analyst). She stil works part time at Dagens Industri.
Sophie Nachemson-Ekwall is co-author of two books - about ABB and Skandia, two companies that crasched around the millenium. The books are indepth studies of management strategy, board relations and the role of shareholders.
Sophie Nachemson-Ekwall is winner of Hasse Olssons Prize in financial journalism, an award she gained for her coerage of ABB in 2001.
Sophie Nachemson-Ekwall is currently working within a 3-year research grant (2007-2010) awarded by the Handelsbankens forskningsstiftelser to pursue research into the theme of 'Corporate Governance in Financial Capitalism'.
Together with Associate Professor Marcus Kallifatides and Professor Sven-Erik Sjöstrand, she has just finished an extensive study of a cross-border hostile corporate acquisition, an effort to understand transformed and transforming conditions for governance in the context of unrestricted capital movement, hedge funds and the like, and prevailing ideologies of governance.
Sophie Nachemson-Ekwall will focus her dissertation on the dynamics of hostile takeovers in the Swedish public market.
